Alexandra Whittingham

Alexandra Whittingham is one of the most widely followed classical guitarists of her generation. Since first sharing performances online as a teenager, she has attracted a global audience of more than 50 million video views while building an international performing career spanning Europe and North America.

Recording Artist

Signed exclusively to Decca Classics, Alexandra released her debut album, My European Journey, in 2021. Praised by BBC Music Magazine as “a superb debut,” the recording showcases her passion for romantic guitar repertoire and for introducing audiences to lesser-known composers. In 2022, she was named one of Classic FM’s Rising Stars.

International Performer

Alexandra has appeared at major festivals and concert series throughout Europe and North America, including the Cayman Islands Arts Festival, South by Southwest, and the Rome Guitar Expo. Recent and upcoming engagements have taken her to Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, London, and a multi-city North American tour.

Educator and Advocate

A strong believer in the power of music education, Alexandra regularly presents masterclasses, workshops, and school programs. Her commitment to outreach reflects her own experience discovering the classical guitar at an early age and the opportunities that music education provided throughout her development as an artist.

Training and Honors

Alexandra began her studies at Chetham’s School of Music before continuing at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she completed both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. During her studies she received numerous distinctions, including the Timothy Gilson Guitar Prize, the Diploma of the Royal Academy of Music, and the Regency Award for Distinguished Studentship.

Alexandra performs on guitars by Philip Woodfield and Christopher Dean and is an Augustine Strings artist.
